Ties will be broken based on record, adjusted points, total points, double-adjusted points, judge variance, opponents' record, and flip of a coin, in that order. What to Bring:Pack enough debate clothing to last 3 days.
Print enough pre-flows so that you could debate 6 rounds on each side.
Ladies, bring a pair of comfortable walking shoes that you can wear around campus, then you can slip on dress shoes when you get to the building in which you'll debate.
Bring money for food. Hotel does not have breakfast deal. Pack snacks in your baggage. I have no idea of the concession situation at the tournament.
Conduct:You are ambassadors of Lakeville. When we travel, you represent not only yourself, but your school, family and community. Be polite, responsible, classy, and professional for the entire trip. All of the MSHSL rules apply.
Travel Plan:We are flying non-stop from Minneapolis to Newark and then chartering a bus for the transfer to New Haven. Our return flight is Newark to Minneapolis, with a layover in Detroit. Our hotel is within walking distance of the campus. [flight status]
NW1090 from MSP to EWR departing MSP at 7:05AM; arrive EWR at 10:37AM

NW767 from DTW to MSP departing DTW at 10:29PM; arrive MSP at 11:10PM
Charter bus company is Connecticut Limo [
website].
Hotel is The Colony at Yale [

Departure:5:30AM on Friday is the time you need to be at the airport -- We will check in at the NWA Group Counter which is located below the baggage level. When you get to the airport, go to the baggage level and enter through door 4; go down the escalator and you'll be in the area where you'll find me. We will meet at 5:30AM to check in as a group, then proceed to security and our gate. To be clear, 5:30AM means you are standing there, ready to check in at 5:30AM, not driving up Cedar at 5:30AM.
On the advice our the NWA group travel desk, we should be at the airport at 5:30AM (if you think that's bad...ask Peter about our flight time to Wake Forest 3 years ago). The group desk will most likely be closed and we'll all go upstairs to check-in, but the group desk also thought they might be there and would open up knowing we were coming...so we'll just see. Return:Plan to call for a ride when we touch-down in Minneapolis. Pick-up place will be door #1 on the upper level.
Baggage:You can check two bags. Bags must have a ID.
The new security rules strictly limit what you can carry on the plane. Your laptop is OK, but really nothing that is a liquid or gel. [
prohibited items list]
Homework:My tip for homework is to NOT bring full copies of your books -- way too heavy to carry around. Instead, photocopy the pages you need for the weekend. This is much, much easier to manage. Travel is not an excuse for skipping homework.
